About This Activity
Taghazout is where Morocco comes alive in the water. This small fishing village 20 km north of Agadir has transformed into one of Africa's most celebrated surf destinations, and for good reason: the Atlantic swells arrive here with the perfect shape and pace for learners, and the water temperature stays comfortable year-round thanks to the warm Canary Current.
Our surf lessons are taught by ISA-certified instructors who have been surfing these waters for over a decade. They know exactly which breaks suit which conditions, which means you will always be in the right spot. Before you set foot in the water, your instructor will spend 20 minutes with you on the sand: paddling technique, how to read a wave, where to position your feet on the board, and crucially — how to stand up cleanly. Most of our students are standing on their first or second wave.
We keep our group sizes small intentionally. No more than six students per instructor means your teacher can watch every attempt, give you real-time feedback, and correct your technique before bad habits set in. You will also have more time in the water, not standing on the beach watching others.
All equipment is included in the price. We provide high-quality foam learner boards that are stable and forgiving, full wetsuits sized for your build, and rash guards. You arrive, we handle everything else. After your lesson, you are welcome to borrow the board for an extra hour to practise what you have learned.
Taghazout itself is worth exploring after your lesson. The painted alleys, rooftop cafés, and the easy pace of village life make for a lovely afternoon. Many guests combine a morning surf lesson with a street-food lunch in the village before heading back to Agadir.
Lessons run every morning at 9am and every afternoon at 3pm. Book via WhatsApp and we will confirm your slot within two hours.

Questions About This Activity
Do I need any experience to take the surf lessons?
No experience is necessary whatsoever. Our lessons are designed specifically for beginners and are structured so that most students stand up on their first or second wave. If you have some experience, tell us when you book and we will match you with the right level.
What is the best time of year for surfing in Taghazout?
Taghazout has waves year-round. October to March brings the best swells for more experienced surfers, while April to September offers calmer, beginner-friendly conditions with warmer water. We run lessons throughout the year.
Can I take a lesson if I cannot swim very well?
We do require that you are comfortable in shallow water. Beginner lessons take place in a designated area where you can stand, so strong swimming is not essential. However, basic water confidence is important for your safety. Inform your instructor of any concerns before the lesson begins.
